HAHAF committee thoroughly studied the status of this family and their economic hardships very closely and unanimously decided to build a new house with an estimated cost of AUD. 35,000. As a newly incorporated foundation, this project was a very big task, but it was a very successful story at the end with generous financial support from our Australian donors and invaluable volunteers from the local community. 

At the beginning, we went through many hurdles, but when we started to build the house on the land owned by this family, the financial donations, volunteers’ support and expertise were drawn towards it overwhelmingly. A well-respected retired school principal Mr. Pathiraja from the area was the local coordinator of this project. We were also fortunate to have Mr. Asela Kalugampitiya, who is a Director at one of Global Monitoring and Evaluation Agencies attached to United Nations volunteering to help us closely monitor the project to its completion. Without doubts, it was a very pleasing outcome and enormous satisfaction to everyone involved. The house was handed over to the owners by the HAHAF Chairman, Lal Gamage and his family at a religious ceremony and a small function at the new house. 

We, at HAHAF realised from this project that, even a relatively small amount of money can make a massive difference to people’s lives, especially for those who are less privileged and live in developing countries around the world. HAHAF hope to bring hope and happiness to more people and families by our future projects.
